Mountain Sounds // Artist Point Sunrise

Bellingham, you are so great. You are great because you have spots like this right in your backyard. Artist Point, you fine fine beauty. If you didn't know of this easy and accessible gem, now you do. I highly recommend a trip here ASAP. In the winter, the road up to AP is not passable, because it is filled with snow. Instead, you can snow shoe up the road! I did this for the first time this past April with a friend and it was delightful and the views were "one hundred" as the kids call it. SO STUNNING.

The road opened in the beginning on July this year, and my best gal Jacquie had mentioned how we should go camp in the parking lot and watch the sunrise. After one failed attempt due to crazy wind and rain, we made another effort to get on up there. We all work up super early and hit the road at 3:15am. We reached Artist Point by 4:50ish am. Plenty of time to watch in awe as the sky lit up with the richest purple hues and illuminated Baker and created an aura around Shuksan.

It was surreal to look out at Baker beauty and realize that I was almost on top of that massive peak. WHAT THE HECK. So cool, so neat.

We watched the sunrise, made tea in the JetBoil, sipped out warm goodness and laid in the back of Ophelia. It was the dreamiest morning I have had in awhile. Thanks for the company, Jacquie, Abby, and Maddie! You three are the greatest. Xxo
