As I embark on this almost quarter long service-learning trip to Kenya + Rwanda, I will be facing many different challenges. These so called “challenges” will come in all different shapes and sizes and intensities. Some will be tiny, like adjusting to new foods while also being on a strict diet. Others may have greater burdens, like leaving behind a business which typically receives the most inquiries in the time period I am gone. Yikes! You can choose to pray: 1. That I’ll be willing to give up control of the small things, of the big things, and of the things that I can ultimately not control. Hi, Jesus. You got me, right?? 2. For the safety of our team of 13 people. 3. That our health remains steady. 4. That opportunities are taken to create meaningful and loving relationships with the people we come in contact with. 5. For the people of Kenya + Rwanda. 6. For open minds and hearts.
During my trip, I will not have access to much communication. Which is going to be very difficult! I love connecting with my people. Even if it's letting someone know that I am thinking of them, or vice versa. Or even a simple "hi!".
If you would like to write me some old fashioned snail mail, I would love that!! However, we will be out in a very rural community, where mail may not be the best way to communicate. You can send mail to my home address and it may be forwarded on if time permits:

. . . . I am selling/donating sizable chunk of my clothes. After my stay in Kenya/Rwanda, I plan to come home to only one. uno. a single. small rack of clothes. In reality, this is way more than I will ever physically need. It's also much, much more than many people have all over the planet. However, it will be quite the difference from the (quite shameful) piles and piles of clothes I have not touched in way too long, that continue to occupy my space. What you see on here is not even half of it **rolls eyes**. To further my attempt in maintaining a simple life, I will embark on a year long mission (and hopefully longer) to "buy nothing new", and hopefully, attempt to not buy anything I really, truly, honestly, do not need.
To help fund my 7 week trip to Kenya/Rwanda, I chose to offer my clothes/belongings to friends, family, and even the welcomed stranger. Most items have already been donated, but I chose to put some pieces on here.
Everything is by suggested donation. If you can only pay $1, that is fantastic! Although, if you want to pay more, be my guest! All proceeds will go toward my time in Africa, where I will be completing a quarter of service learning through Western Washington University.
